Carmen Maki – Toki Niwa Haha No Nai Ko No Youni

Another brief post before going to bed.

During my 4 years in Italy, I have had the chance to study Japanese for a year and a half, but unfortunately, since I haven’t used it much, I have forgotten much of what I have learnt. I love foreign languages, and I see them like plants; if you don’t water and look after them, they end up dying…

I just found this song by chance. It sounds a bit sad maybe, but I like it.

Here you can read the article in which I found about this song, and you can also listen to other Japanese pop songs!

I hope you like them!

Good night!

Olimpic Games: Madrid 2020?

This is a quick post. I just came across this video that seems to be the candidacy of Madrid as a host city of the Olimpic Games in 2020.

This is not the first time Madrid is candidate to host the Olimpic Games and each time there has always been some controversy on the matter.

What do you think about it?

The video is fine, I guess. The only thing is the “flamenco” music (nothing against flamenco, I like some stuff). For some reason, “we” keep present it as something universal in Spain, but then, we get annoyed when we go abroad and people keep asking us if we dance flamenco everyday, if we play or sing flamenco, etc, etc.

Maybe another day I will write about stereotypes and my experience of 4 years in Italy…

DIY Show: 1st International Craft Fair

Lately, my sister is really into crafts. She creates little things (mostly brooches) made with felt and fabric and little by little she is improving and mastering her skills. Soon she will dare to craft other different things.

(In case you are curious, she has a page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ElbauldeJudiko Feel free to like the page! I think I will try to create a blog for her soon! She sells the little brooches she crafts, so if you see something that you like, don’t be shy and ask her!)

Anyway, let’s get to the point. She was really looking forward to attending a craft fair in Madrid (in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium! Yes, Real Madrid’s stadium!), so I went with her.

The fair was called “DIY Show”:  http://www.diyshow.es

Most of the craftspeople were young and had turned their hobby into a little business. I was really impressed. We got the chance to talk to some of them and they were really nice people.

Here you can see items made by Lady Desidia ( http://www.ladydesidia.com ), which I personally really liked, especially the lamps. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much money with me. Maybe in the future, when I have a job again, I will buy some things! My sister did buy some postcards.

Summer just round the corner… or maybe not!

While I am writing this, it is pouring down again… We are all wondering what’s going on with the weather this year, it is as if there have been 3 winters with a lot of rain in a row! People can’t wait for the summer to come!

By chance, I came across Estrella Damm’s new summer campaign video. In case you are wondering, Estrella Damm is a beer brand from Barcelona, Spain and in the latest years, it has become a tradition that when the summer is about to start, they launch a new video, focusing on elements such the sun, the Mediterranean landscapes, the food, the music and  of course, the beer as an excuse to celebrate the concepts of friendship, love and sharing a good time with the beloved ones, which are really important in the Mediterranean culture.

(Oh dear, this got pretty intellectual… anyway, just my opinion!)

This year, the soundtrack of the campaign is by Love of a Lesbian, a group from Barcelona. I really like the song!

Radio Crème Brûlée

I know, I know… I haven’t written for such a long time… sometimes life gets hectic…

Some weeks ago, I just discovered this radio station online, and I am just lovin’ it! It is located on the other side of the pond, in Boston, MA (USA) and as they claim, it is “an internet radio station that showcases an eclectic assortment of pop/rock music from both sides of the Atlantic alongside guilty pleasures, forgotten gems, and radio staples from the 80s, 90s, and 00s.”

Besides re-listening many songs from my younger years (oh, sweet memories…), I am also discovering new bands or totally unknown groups (to me!) from the past… for a music lover like me, this is heaven!

In case you got curious, just go to: http://www.radiocremebrulee.com/

One of my favourite songs that they are playing these days:

Feist

Today, while enjoying an end-of-summer little storm, I discovered this artist, called Feist. She is a Canadian singer & songwriter. Unfortunately, I don’t think she is very well-known on this side of the pond (Europe).

I really like this song by her:

Hello out there!

After having thought a lot about it, I just decided to create a blog. Honestly, I have no clue how it will go, but let’s give it a try.

Since I have a wide range of interests, likes, concerns, etc (some of them quite stupid, I guess!!) but sometimes it is difficult to find other people to share them with, maybe internet may help.

May you have a good reading (and hopefully, even laughing!)!!
